Scott will present a case study about how a team from Intel Corporation was able to reduce order processing cycle time by 50% in a finished goods warehouse operation by applying Theory of Constraints, specifically “Drum-Buffer-Rope”, as well as other continuous improvement methods. Examples of improvement include a 50% reduction in order processing cycle time, 1 day of inventory reduction, and a 10% increase in throughput, all without increasing operating expense. Experiences on how to partner and influence key stakeholders, deliver effective training, and provide essential management and performance measurement tools are shared.

TOC applications and tools have enabled dramatic improvements in many different kinds of organizations. Unfortunately, the change to TOC can be painful and slow, and there are many examples of organizations in which TOC either failed initially to take root or gained initial successes but declined over time. We may point fingers at leadership, culture, or people’s resistance to change, but is long-term success really outside our control? In this session, Rob Newbold shows why consulting paradigms in common use fail to sow the seeds for long-term success. He explains the Cycle of Results model, as described in his new book The Billion Dollar Solution, and gives practical examples to show how it can be applied to improve the stickiness of your change efforts.
